Kargil Vijay Divas Celebration and Enigma’s Mizuki

Dear Friends
Today I would like to share with you two events that we have conducted/participated recently. The first one is on 25.07.2019. Enigma, the first-year students have organized their maiden program “Mizuki”. The program is planned as a forerunner to the lecture series planned by the Department of Physics for celebrating Golden Jubilee year 2020. A series of lectures on various programs are to be planned in due course to touch the epic finale on January 2020. We had two invited speakers.

1.     Dr. C Jesper Lal, Rtd. Scientist, VSSC
2.     Dr. Rakesh Chandran S B, Assistant Professor, S D College
Jesper Lal sir discussed Moon Missions till date under the title “50 years of Moon Mission”. The Program touched many aspects like the struggle NASA had, the cold war scenario as well as the tension, surprise, dedication, mindfulness of astronauts in carrying out the moon mission. I believe that the students who attended the function really benefitted from the lecture. We are expecting more lectures from his side.
Rakesh Chandran, is my friend and a close associate to the department of Physics. He had done studies related to magnetism at Moon using data received from various moon research agencies. He had delivered a thought-provoking lecture on why the south pole side was selected for Chandrayaan 2 Mission. I am happy to say that many of the audience were curious to ask questions, interact with the speaker and exchange ideas.
More lectures are planned and will be posted soon. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all my blog readers to attend the function whichever becomes convenient for you. Thank you all for the love and full-fledged support extended to Department of Physics.

Next Program is “The Kargil Vijay Divas celebration” at Senate Hall, University of Kerala on 30.07.2019. The Kargil war heroes were given a befitting honour by the University of Kerala in association with Indian Air Force. Our Honourable Governor, Chancellor of our university was the chief guest. The valour, the courage, the spirit and the enthusiasm that the soldiers had even in the most difficult uphill operation at unimaginable heights were depicted to common man in simple language. I always use to think about how a person could detach everything that is dear to them and fight for us. For commoners like us, who are attached to their parents, teachers. students and their loved ones, I say Indian soldiers have done what is beyond our wildest imagination and do deserve true respect and a standing salute. I, on behalf of Department of Physics, extend by respect to the brave souls who have done the incredible, 20 years before on 1999 to keep our guards strong and to give a befitting reply to all who threaten the sovereignty and peace of our nation. Attaching some photos of the same.

Thank You for patient reading,

Sibi
