Dear all, I am happy to see an overwhelming response from my M Sc, Mphil students and research scholars to attend the SPL day lecture by Ashoke Sen on 29.06.2015. A total of 42 persons including myself was lucky enough to attend the talk of such a distinguished person in international community. Let me share a little about his credentials. ASHOKE SEN ,   FRS   is an Indian   theoretical physicist   and distinguished professor at the   Harish-Chandra Research Institute,   Allahabad. I was delighted to deliver a talk at Sree Narayana College, Varkala, as part of the TRENDZ Seminar Series 2025 organised by the PG Department of Physics. Speaking on “2D Materials for a Sustainable Energy Future” , I had the opportunity to introduce students and faculty to the fascinating world of ultrathin materials, their role in next-generation fuel cells, and how they tie into the broader vision of sustainable development. We discussed why 2D materials are considered the future-high surface area, tunable properties, and exceptional catalytic behaviour-while also reflecting on the challenges such as large-scale fabrication, stability, and commercialization. The interaction was warm, thoughtful, and energetic, and it was wonderful to see the enthusiasm of the students during their paper presentations.
