27th Kerala Science Congress

Dear all,

Let me share with you the details of 27th Kerala Science congress that was conducted at Camelot Convention Centre, Alappuzha from 27-29 January 2015. I and Mr. Sujith (Guest Faculty) could attend the conference on the behalf of Department of Physics University of Kerala, Trivandrum. Attaching herewith the report of Kerala Science congress published in Malayala Manorama.

I take this opportunity to congratulate Dr. Santhosh Kumar, Scientist VSSC who got Young scientist award. I cherish the good old memories with him during my research career at National Institute of Interdisciplinary Science and Technology, Trivandrum.

On 28th January 2015, we had a special summit on Hydrology and Ecology of Alappuzha. Many eminent persons like Dr. K P Sudheer (IIT, Chennai)… offered their suggestion for the improvement of traditional industries in the district. It was definitely an informative talk being a resident of Alappuzha district since I should frankly say that we had little thoughts about these. Attaching herewith the details of Summit…

On concluding day, there were sessions presenting the valuable inputs received from the young scientist awardees. Science congress recommendations for the improvement of traditional industries should be considered the take back home since it is very hard to understand the conflicting interests in Vembanad Lake and hence scientific interference is definitely needed to understand the fragile nature of 25,000 years old ecosystem in Kerala.
