June updates
Let me start with photos of my two friends- Sumod, M Sc Classmate, Gireesh, B Sc Classmate. Somethings don't change, isn't it?
Birthday of Lidya and G P Lab memories 2017
.
It
is being a while. Lot of activities, events, progressive programs had been initiated
in the department and I am happy to share with you now. From May 15, 2017 to June 14, 2017, I had
being going through an internship for research at M G University, Kottayam
under the guidance of Dr. N V Unnikrishnan, Emeritus professor. To enjoy
freedom and to find the way though our intuitions and to secure ideas in nonlinear
optics was quite an experience. Some interesting fields are often felt boring
just because of absence of knowledge about it. I feel that there is still
potential, fun to work on these lines since photon age is not fool’s gold. The
limitation of electronic age is now touching us to tell that next step is
inevitable. Ohh…let me not use more technical languages, just read through some
nonlinear photon age adventures like quantum entanglement. It will definitely
get you going. Some good thing that reminds me of M G university is that it has
a very cozy environment where finding an ambience for focus is always
accessible for a live in researcher. I thank FLAIR and School of Pure and
Applied Physics for giving me an opportunity to purse my research in the
aforesaid area. Some photos of togetherness in Kottayam with my father and my
sister. They used to come with me at times during this period.
As
I had promised you earlier, I am posting some snaps of Prof. Aruldhas sir
memorial lecture series. The video recordings are still unedited, so I need
little more time to fix the problems and post it in our you tube channel.
Again
in the meantime, I could join an online MOOC course organized by Kerala University.
Dr. Achuthsankar was our course advisor. The topic of the course was “Making a
powerful multimedia PowerPoint presentation”. I feel that I was not only
benefitted by attending the class but also I was introduced to a new way of
interacting with students: the Google classrooms. I am happy to say that I could
be a student for some time with assignments, submissions etc. I got A grade.
(see attachment) These initiatives makes us think and may be equip yourself
with new possibilities of using technology to communicate with students in its
best form. These are good practices if we had necessary computer facilities in
our department. The important information which I got is that in presentation,
be yourself, it fetches more. I will try to make an online course available for
all my students through Google class room so that students could take the class
at their best time suited.
In
last few months, I had guided eight students along with one M Phil students for
their dissertation on diverse areas of Physics such as LEDs, SOFCs, BRAIN
research. The list of students, their photo, soft copies of their research work
are given below for your consideration and comments. Managing these many
students would have been not possible without my M Phil research scholar Akhila
Murali J. I appreciate her efforts in these times.

I
was appointed as Spoken Tutorial Faculty by HOD, Dr. Subodh. Let me share with
you that Spoken Tutorial Course is an
initiative of National Mission on Education through ICT, Government of India,
to promote IT literacy through Open Source Software.
Again
another good thing is that KSCSTE project is sanctioned from finance department
of Kerala University. The documentary on Observatory will be a reality soon.
The
international conference on Photonics was already reported in the previous
post. But I would like to say here that two of our papers has been published in
the proceedings. Attaching the scanned documents of the same…
International
Yoga day has been also celebrated in our department. Attaching some photos of
the same…
Our
AO sir has been transferred to nearby Engineering College office. We had a
small get together. Photo of the same…
For
the benefit of students who are interested in knowing the answers of
statistical Physics Examination, I am attaching here with PDF document. Also
the M Sc entrance exam is over and we have completed the valuation on time. M
Sc entrance exam with their keys are attached herewith.
Enjoy
Cheers
Sibi
