✨ Kasarthonam 2025 – A Joyous Onam Celebration ✨
On August 27, 2025, the Departments of Physics and Nanoscience came together to celebrate Kasarthonam with great enthusiasm. The program began at 11:00 AM with a warm introduction, followed by welcome and presidential addresses that set the festive tone. Faculty members from both departments shared thoughtful words, adding color and meaning to the celebration, while some also delighted the audience with songs.
The event reflected the spirit of unity and togetherness, with active participation from teachers and students alike. The highlight was the cultural programs and entertainment in the afternoon, which brought vibrancy, laughter, and creativity to the stage. The day was celebrated with a hearty Onam Sadhya, making it a memorable occasion for everyone present.
It has been a season of celebrations across our campus! 🌸 On August 21, we enjoyed a delightful Onam Sadhya at TRIC-KU, and I sincerely thank Viji for the warm invitation. Soon after, I had the joy of joining the Onam Sadhya at the Department of Archaeology, with thanks to Rajesh Sir for graciously calling me over. Adding to the festive spirit, I was also happy to be part of the “Jab We Met” Freshers’ Day program for our enthusiastic groups Quantum Mania and Lumiara. Sharing here some photos from these wonderful moments that capture the joy, togetherness, and cultural spirit of our University family. 🌼
It gives me immense pleasure, as the Coordinator of the Patent Cell, to share a glimpse of the Awareness Workshop on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) titled “Unlocking Ideas – Protecting Innovations”, organized by the Translational Research & Innovation Centre (TRIC-KU), University of Kerala. The one-day program was held on 20 August 2025 from 10 AM to 2 PM at C.V. Raman Hall, CLIF, and focused on guiding young innovators through the essentials of protecting their ideas. The sessions were led by two distinguished Registered Patent Agents, Dr. Parveen Abraham and Dr. Nimisha K., both from SCTIMST, who brought with them rich expertise and practical insights into the world of patents. They spoke about the fundamentals of patent filing, the intricacies of drafting claims, prior art searches, and highlighted success stories that inspire confidence in budding researchers.
What made this workshop truly remarkable was the enthusiastic participation from FYUGP students, whose energy and curiosity left the speakers deeply impressed. In fact, the patent agents remarked that they had never encountered such an engaged and responsive audience before. Their words echoed the sense of pride we feel, that our University is indeed fortunate to nurture a generation that is eager to translate ideas into impactful innovations. This enthusiasm is not just an outcome of a workshop but a reflection of the change we aspire to see in our academic ecosystem. As coordinator, I feel privileged to have been part of this initiative, which has not only ignited awareness but has also sown seeds of innovation culture in our campus. 📚 Library Orientation Programme – A Gateway to Academic Resources
The Department of Physics and the Department of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, University of Kerala, successfully hosted a Library Orientation Programme today (8 August 2025) in association with the Campus Library. Dr. Shihab I., Assistant Librarian, led an engaging and insightful session on “Introduction to Library and E‑Resources”, highlighting the vast academic possibilities available through the university's digital and physical library systems. From e-journals and online databases to thesis repositories and remote access tools, the session offered students a comprehensive understanding of how to utilize library services for research and learning effectively. The program was inaugurated by Dr. R. Jayakrishnan (HOD, Physics) and Dr. Sibi K. S. (HOD, Nanoscience and Nanotechnology), setting a collaborative tone for academic excellence and resource-driven learning.
🌌 National Space Day 2025: A Celebration Sparked by Student Spirit 🚀
This year’s National Space Day 2025 celebration at the Department of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, University of Kerala, was more than just a scheduled event, it was a reflection of student-driven inspiration and the spirit of scientific curiosity.
I would like to take a moment to appreciate Devanarayanan, a first-year undergraduate student from Geology Major and Physics Minor, whose enthusiasm and keen interest in space science were the true catalysts for organizing this program. It was his proactive spirit, his questions, and his eagerness to do something meaningful in connection with India’s space achievements that nudged me to conceptualize and coordinate this series of events.
🎨 From painting and essay competitions to science fiction writing and a thrilling space quiz, the events held between 6th–8th August 2025 were designed not just as contests, but as platforms to celebrate India’s space journey—from Aryabhatta to Gaganyaan.
It gives me immense joy to see young students like Devanarayanan not only learning but leading, inspiring their teachers, peers, and even institutions to dream a little bigger.
This blog post is my little tribute to that spark. ✨
Thank you, Devanarayanan, for reminding us why we do what we do.
