From Ambition to a Shared Vision at the University of Kerala ✨๐
Today was a memorable day for the Department of Physics, as
26 students—from PhD scholars to postgraduate students across diverse fields
like Nanoscience, Space Physics, Renewable Energy, Applied Electronics, and
even undergraduate students—participated in the “Intellectual Property
Unlocked: Understanding Patents” workshop at Sree Chitra Institute. As the
Director of the Patent Cell, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to
Viji, Director of TRIC, and Balaram Sir & Parvin from TIPS TIMED for their
invaluable support in making this initiative a success. Special thanks to
@Sreeraj @Midhun S B and @Karthik for their enthusiasm and commitment,
showcasing the true spirit of being a family.
A big thank you also goes to Sandeep Sir from Mechanical
Engineering, who ensured every student could travel smoothly.
While personal ambition can be a powerful force, it is always
better when ambitions are aligned with a greater vision, as this leads to true
transformation. This workshop was more than a lesson on patents; it was an
opportunity to unite individual aspirations within a broader purpose, igniting
a shared passion for science. Witnessing our students actively engage, learn,
and express their ambitions through collaboration was both inspiring and
rewarding.
Each workshop, each partnership, and each shared experience
brings us closer to building a thriving, innovative scientific community. ๐ ๐ซ

I was impressed by Ashutosh’s seminar on calculus,
especially with how he started with Zeno's paradox. It is such a brilliant
choice to illustrate the mysteries of reality…how something can happen yet
never truly finish happening. It is amazing how paradoxes like Zeno’s can
connect philosophy, math, and even our perspectives on life itself. Kudos to
Ashutosh for such a thought-provoking session.

On October 29, 2024, I had the
honor of serving as a judge for the Pathanamthitta Revenue District Science
Seminar, part of Sastrolsavam 2024, held in Thiruvalla. It was a memorable
experience, made even more special as I shared the judging panel with my father
and sister, both dedicated to education and science. Together, we witnessed
young minds passionately present their ideas. It’s experiences like these that
remind us of the power of education and the importance of encouraging young
people to pursue their dreams in science
On
October 25, 2024, we, Department of Physics, University of Kerala proudly
acknowledged Ms. Shifa Lilly Jones for her remarkable achievement in clearing
the CSIR UGC NET exam (category 3), making her eligible to pursue a PhD.
Additionally, as the coordinator of the IIRS (Indian Institute of Remote
Sensing) online program, I am thrilled to celebrate the successful completion
of our Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) course, a collaboration with
IIRS/ISRO that has established our University as an official nodal center.
Eleven students, including Ancy, Archa, Anaswara, Afna, Nandhana, Aranya, Joan,
Arya, Jefrin, Devu, and Dhanya, engaged themselves in GNSS technology, covering
GPS fundamentals, advanced satellite navigation techniques, and the Indian
Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS). Thanks to their enthusiasm and to
ISRO for this invaluable opportunity to advance science and technology together.
Certificate as Co-ordinator
Two old soldiers met again after two long decades. The sun was setting behind them, casting long shadows across the cafรฉ where they sat. Their faces had changed, with lines of age and wisdom tracing their features, but their bond was still strong.
John
leaned back in his chair, a soft smile tugging at his lips. "How's life
been, Martin?"
"Fine,"
Martin said with a shrug, his voice gruff but warm. "Going well enough.
You?"
"Same
here. It’s been smooth. Do you remember the days we spent together? "
A
chuckle escaped John’s lips. "Terrific, wasn’t it? Those twenty minutes—we barely made it out alive that one day. I still remember the adrenaline,
the chaos, the sound of gunfire all around us. I just lived off the edge with
you by my side."
Martin
nodded, his eyes growing distant as the memories came flooding back.
"Yeah, I remember. It was just us, crouched behind those broken walls,
with nothing but our rifles and hope we’d survive. And you, shouting at me to
keep moving."
"I
thought we were done for," John added with a laugh. "But there you
were, hauling me up, telling me not to give up yet."
Martin
grinned. "And you? You saved my neck when that sniper had me in his
sights. I still don’t know how you spotted him."
"I
don’t know either. It was just instinct. And luck," John admitted, shaking
his head.
For the
next hour, they lost themselves in the story. Each word they exchanged brought
back memories of that intense moment. They pieced together the whole
experience, each version complementing the other—Martin remembering the heat of
the desert and the sweat trickling down his neck, while John described the
sounds of artillery booming in the distance. They laughed, they grew serious, and they relived those moments that had once defined their lives.
After
an hour of reminiscing, John leaned forward, eyes twinkling. "So, what
now? Where has life taken you?"
Martin
chuckled softly, leaning back in his chair. "Salesman. It’s fine."
Both
men fell silent for a moment.
They
both agreed on the quote
“There
are decades where nothing happens, and there are weeks where decades happen”
