Open Defense of Smt. Athira Rajan

 I am happy to share successful open defense of Smt. Athira Rajan, held on 06.06.2024 at the Kariavattom Campus. Athira has been working under the joint guidance of Dr. Subodh G and me on the topic "Electromagnetic Simulation-Driven Design and Fabrication of Ferrite-Reinforced Composites for Microwave Applications."


The event was chaired by Prof. Uthanna, Chairperson of the Board of Adjudicators. Prof. Uthanna is a distinguished researcher known for his significant contributions to Transparent Conducting Oxide films. His accolades include the IUVSTA Welch Fellowship and the Meritorious Teacher Award in Sciences. He has also been a visiting professor at renowned institutions in Germany and France and has over 200 publications in prestigious journals.

Athira's journey began in 2014 when she joined the Kariavattom Campus as a postgraduate student, becoming my first research scholar. Her dedication to scientific research and contributions to Cold Sintering of certain Composites, multilayered Heterogeneous Conducting Magnetic Structures, and textile-based EMI Shielding are noteworthy. Her research is not only significant in its field but also serves as an inspiration to postgraduate students.

During her defense, Athira elaborated on her comprehensive research process, from simulation to the fabrication of multilayer composites and the potential applications of textile-based EMI shields in daily life. Her work opens new avenues for exploring cold-sintered ferrite-based composites and designing robust EMI shielding structures.

The event saw the attendance of distinguished guests, including Dr. A. Bijukumar, Dean and Professor of the Department of Aquatic Biology; Research Director Binoj Sir; esteemed faculty members; research scholars; PG students; and Athira's family.


The session concluded with commendations for Athira's research and a special mention of the collaborative efforts and dedication of both the research scholar and her mentors. I take the opportunity to congratulate Smt. Athira Rajan, on her successful defense, looks forward to her future contributions to the field of microwave applications and EMI shielding.

Participation in NEP Orientation and Sensitization Program

I am excited to share that I currently participate in a two-week NEP (National Education Policy) Orientation and Sensitization Program. This program, running from 04 June 2024 to 15 June 2024, is conducted online by the UGC Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) at the University of Kerala.

Program Overview

The National Education Policy (NEP) aims to bring transformative changes to the education system in India, emphasizing holistic and multidisciplinary education. This orientation and sensitization program is designed to familiarize educators, administrators, and stakeholders with the NEP's core aspects and implementation strategies.

I was delighted to deliver a talk at Sree Narayana College, Varkala, as part of the TRENDZ Seminar Series 2025 organised by the PG Department of Physics.
