Happy Onam 2019

Sharing with you report on this year Onam celebration at the department.
–“Upperi 2019”
The grand Onam celebration of
Department of Physics, the University of Kerala named “Upperi 2019” was
conducted on 03.09.2019 under the coordination of “Enigma” (First Year M Sc
Students) with the wholehearted participation of all second-year M Sc students,
M Phil Students, Research Scholars, Faculties and non-teaching Staffs. Program
Started at 10:30 am with a prayer song from Ayushi Unnikrishnan (First M Sc
Student). I M Sc student Jyothika took the responsibility of anchoring the
program. Program Coordinator Fathima H gave a nice welcome to all those who
were present. Everyone gave a silent prayer to those who were badly affected by
the flood. “Enigma” already had begun an initiative of conducting talk name
“Eninikku Parayannulathu” Which is a one hour talk based on any topic once in
every week.
Today's program session started
with a talk based on Onam Mythology, history of Onam. This was presented by
Meritta James (I M Sc Student). After a nice Song from Ayushi, another talk on
present-day Onam celebration was delivered by Achuthan S(I MSc). Faculty
members Jawahar Sir, Biju Sir, Rakhi Teacher, Savitha Teacher, and Sibi sir
expressed felicitation to the program. They all wished happy Onam and inspired
the gathering. II M Sc student Tomson expressed his greetings for the event.
Onam song from Enigma members gave a rhythmic momentum to the atmosphere. A
group dance from second Msc girls stunned the audience. Asha Francis from First
M Sc made everyone fascinated by her mono act based on the theme “Child Labor”.
Vanchipattu from all Enigma members started the sparks of cherishing memories
of Onam. Divya and Meghna (First M Sc students) performed a fusion dance which
was very well appreciated by the audience. Our Librarian, Praveen Sir, Rakhi
Madam, Sarathsir of Department of Nano-technology sang melodious songs. Udayan
sir, also shared with us a nice fast number which brought all the audience into
their feet. His inspiring talk also made everyone happy. Research Scholar
Gopika chichi ‘s song got great appreciation. The special attraction of our
program was the presence of Mahabali, Asura king who is the iconic image of
Onam Celebration. II MSc student Amal was the person behind the costumes of
Mahabali. Ayushi and Fathimathul Sahala made everyone joyful with their sweet
voice with a song.
It was a great pleasure to see
that students and faculties of other departments also joined with celebrations
offered by us. Geology HOD Binoj Sir, Arabic Department HOD Thajudeen Sir,
Faculty Noushad Sir, economic department faculty Siddik sir and University
Syndicate member Nazeeb Sir graced the event with their presence. Their whole
heated prayers as well as their graceful words made this event memorable one.
Moring session programs
concluded with beat and bass song from Udayan Sir and Vote of Thanks by
Fathimathul Sahala.
After the grand Onam Sadhya (
with two payasam) the auditorium once again became the venue for interesting
games. Lemon and Spoon, musical chair, Buiscut eating, Sundarikku Pottu thodal,
pot braking etc. Not only students, faculties as well as non-teaching staffs
also participated in all the games. An Onam quiz was conducted by Devika Raj (I
M Sc). The Prized were distributed by faculties to the winners. At 5 pm, the
program concluded. It was such a magnanimous event. Everyone participated with
one mind and it was the times of Maveli once again. Thank You for the great
support rendered for creating these magical moments of life “Upperi 2K19”
Other Events
On 30.08.2019, I was invited as
Quiz Master at Assumption College, Changancherry. The All India
Inter-Collegiate Quiz was organized by the Physics Department and I am extremely
happy that I could be the Quiz Master for the Event. I thank Ann Teacher for
all the hospitality rendered for a great time at your college. Attaching

On 22 August 2019, The Special convocation ceremony was conducted at University Senate Hall to award Honanry D
Sc to Padma Vibushan Dr. Jayant V Narlikar and Padma Bhushan Shri S
Gopalakrishnan. Extremely happy to be part of the program.
On 20 August 2019, Sadhbhavana Day was Celebrated and the following pledge was made by all the members of Physics Department. Attaching some photos of the same.
On 15 August 2019, Independence Day was celebrated in our campus too under the leadership of Pro-VC. Attaching some photos of the program we attended.
As part of extra-curricular activities, it was indeed my pleasure to join with my students to play shuttle after class. Attaching some photos of the same.
