Updates on New Programs initiated

Dear all,

It has been a long time since I have posted on the blog site. I was waiting to share with you four programs conducted on behalf of the Department of Physics, University of Kerala.
1.     Prof. Aruldhas Memorial Lecture Series on Quantum Mechanics. The program was a grand success. There was a participation of about 60 plus students for the event. Students were from different parts of Kerala and since it was a residential event there were many hurdles to overcome. Showing quantum experiments along with theory classes was to be done with a clinical precision that we had many thoughts going in our mind prior to the Lecture Series. I am happy that we had a handsome number of enthusiastic, vibrant batch of students to attend the program on May8,9 and 10. We Covered many topics from Introduction to Quantum mechanics-drawbacks of classical mechanics to Hydrogen Atom. The experience on experiments like Zeeman effect, Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle, Arc Spectrum analysis, Black Body radiation studies, Photoelectric effect were clubbed in the sessions that students were able to visualize the theories in a more profound and understandable way. Thank you all for showing confidence in us and we assure you that we will come up with more programs of this genre soon.

2.     Sent off program for M Sc 2016-18 Batch. On June 19, 2018, Sent-off Program was conducted for M Sc 2016-18 Batch. I should say that it was a very unique batch which passed out this year. There are many memories that they have left here for me to cherish. Moreover, they taught me a lot by showing me how to love unconditionally. Cheers and Kudos for the HCL.

3.     International Yoga day celebration on June21, 2018 at Department of Optoelectronics in association with Department of Physics, University of Kerala. I am happy that I could be an elite member who was selected to speak about Yoga. Thank you Gopchandran Sir!
Report and Photos
The fourth ‘International Yoga Day’ was jointly organised by the Dept. of Optoelectronics, Dept. of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology and Dept.  of Physics, University of Kerala. The programme was conducted in the Seminar Hall of Dept. of Optoelectronics. The programme started at 11.00 a.m with a welcome speech by Dr K.G.Gopchandran, Head of the Dept. of Optoelectronics. Then an introduction to the importance of Yoga was given by Dr V P N Nampoori, Emeritus Professor, International School of Photonics, CUSAT. There were two speakers in this occasion, Dr V.   Unnikrishnan Nayar and Dr Sibi.K.S. Dr V. Unnikrishnan Nayar, Former Head of the Dept. of Optoelectronics performed yoga and demonstrated it to the participants. Dr Sibi.K.S, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Physics delivered a speech about ‘Yoga’ with the help of power point presentation and was very informative. Eighty participants attended the programme including the faculty members, office staff, research scholars and students. Students and Staff members cleared their doubts with the invited speakers and the programme showed a positive impact among staff  & students. The programme concluded with vote-of-thanks by Dr G Subodh, Head of the Department of Physics.  The programme came to an end by 12.30 p.m.

4.      On July 11, 2018, we Department of Physics, in association with Department of Optoelectronics conducted ECG Sudarshan Memorial talk. The talk was delivered by Prof. V P N Namboothiri, Emeritus Scientist, Department of Optoelectronics. The talk focussed on Sudarshan life and his work. It was fascinating to listen to Namboothiri sir and to know that ECG Sudarshan was considered for Nobel Prize many times.

Thank you all for reading through.
Will come up with new updates soon
