December Updates

The month of December was so informational as well as entertaining. Let me start with discussing about POGIL training program conducted by IQAC and FLAIR. POGIL means Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning. The class was handled by Clff Kussmaul, Muhlenberg College, USA. The propaganda that Teacher is a guide by the side and not a sage on the stage was quite interesting perspective for young teachers like us. Attaching some photos of the same program…

Now let me discuss the some lite moments that I had this month with first years of our department. After POGIL training, I met Achuthsankar sir and requested him if he could give me two hours time in his department and take class in “Haritharathakaram”, the environmental friendly class room. Sir readily agreed to this suggestion and said that it is a facility for all the students in our university and he will ensure that we get the required attention from his staff during the class. Since S1 semester classes were winded up, I thought to give the mid semester answer paper to the students during that time. Even though it is not a nice idea to give the marks during such a wonderful day, I had to convey the point that there are some activities that could be done which is above the logic and intellect we achieve from marks in an exam. Thank you Achuthsankar sir for the support. Attaching some photos of the same…

On Decemeber 14, 2016 at 1:30 pm, I had the privilege to give a talk on “The expanse of Nano: Fuel Cells” at Academic staff college, Kariavattom campus. I met many of my friends from different colleges. I would like to say that this talk was rather a communication between friends to understand the need for Fuel cell research.
Another important event that happened is the interview for FLAIR research. 30 faculties from Kerala are to be selected for intensive training program in research under Higher Education development program. I was fortunate enough to go for the interview and present my desires of pursing high end research in our university. Waiting for the results…

Now about the Christmas celebration. On December 20, 2016, we had a grand celebration in which we had Antony Sir as the chief guest. We saw Christmas carol and food party organised in the department. An auspicious day filled with messages, stories and songs. I believe that these are the times that people should understand the value of his teachings. The world needs some ideas which could transform the thoughts and philosophies in every person to enhance the life around. Even if you are a believer or a non-believer, I this Jesus have made a very important point clear that if you need peace, then we should be at least able to forgive or bear up the other person so that we, ourselves are benefitted. On December 21, 2016, I had given an invited talk on “Fuel cells” at Government College, Nedumangad. I believe that I could convey the ideas in a brief time so that students are benefitted. Even though it was a basic level of discussion, I think it is apt for B Sc students. Looking forward to more of such events so that I could keep friendship with those young minds…
