Life of Bruno, The Neutrino Man When I begin writing this article, I was sceptical about whether to present the life of Bruno as a communist or a scientist. Being a teacher in Physics, it is apt to focus on Bruno’s life as a Nuclear Scientist. Bruno Pontecorvo, the nuclear physicist who disappeared at the height of cold war in 1950, needs a special mention in current scenario since Nobel prize in Physics 2015 was awarded for “the discovery of neutrino oscillations” In common man’s language, Neutrino oscillations states that neutrino switches back and forth between its three personalities-electron neutrino, muon neutrino and Tau neutrino. The month of January was a busy month with Semester 1 and Semester 3 university exams. Mathematical Physics (PHY 511) and Nuclear Physics (PHY 533) was quite manageable ones as per student’s opinions, which is a good news to share with you all. On February 2, 2016, we organised a seminar on “Neutrino, A Solution to Enigma” It was a popular talk focusing on the general aspects of Nobel Prize in Physics 2015 and to explain to the common listeners the meaning and significance of neutrino to grand design of the Universe. There were 58 participants who include Prof. Gopchandran, our Guide, my friends- Mr. Siddik, Department of Economics, Mr. Vishnu Narayanan, Department of English, Mr. Binu, Department of Opto-electronics.
