Events conducted on month of September
Admission of PG students,
Induction Programs and other seminars were conducted in the department as well
as I could be a part of three national seminars in this eventful month of
September 2015. For the first time in the history of the university, we had an
orientation program for students who got new admissions for PG course. The
arrangements made by IQAC chaired by Vice Chancellor needs special
congratulations for bring out such a program. Certainly it is a great beginning
and a proud moment in Kerala university account where the first level induction
program was followed by School/department level induction program. In this Context
School of Physical and mathematical science also arranged induction program on
08.09.2015 and department of physics joining hands with Dr. K G Gopchandran arranged
a orientation program for PG students. Invited Speaker Dr. K J Thomas introduced
the an interesting field of nanotechnology research “Electrical transport of
quantum one dimensional conductors”. The session was followed by a general discussion
on various aspects at the department chaired by Dr. V Biju. Interaction with M
Sc 2013-15 Batch students was very effective in the final session that new
students really appreciated the efforts taken by the department.

New M Phil students have also
recently joined the Department. 8 out of 10 seats were filled and being the
course advisor for both M Sc first year and M Phil students, I do believe that
they have taken their first step towards excellence through acquiring
Knowledge.
Meanwhile my M Phil students,
Arya, Raji and Sneha completed their viva for the dissertation work and we had
a photo session in XRD lab. It was a pleasure to work with inspiring spirits
and their initiatives have motivated me to step ahead in diverse fields of
Material Research.

To familiarize the M Sc students
and M Phil students, department of Physics has organized a talk by M Sc
(2013-15) batch students on various topics like Phosphors, LEDs, Nanotechnology
and SOFCs on 23.09.2015. Hope that student’s benefited from these and will
decide on their goals in their interested areas.
