അന്തരിച്ച മുൻ രാഷ്ട്രപതി എ പി ജെ അബ്ദുൾകലാം തന്റെ സോഷ്യൽ മീഡിയാ പേജിൽ കുറിച്ച ചില വരികൾ ..... !!

എന്റെ കുട്ടിക്കാലത്ത് എല്ലാവരെയും പോലെ ഞങ്ങളുടെ അമ്മ തന്നെയായിരുന്നു ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് ഭക്ഷണം പാകം ചെയ്തിരുന്നത്. വളരെ കഠിനമായി ജോലി ചെയ്തിരുന്ന ഒരു ദിവസം അത്താഴത്തിനു അമ്മ ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് വേണ്ടി റൊട്ടിയുണ്ടാക്കി.പച്ചക്കറിയുടെ കൂടെ അച്ഛന്റെയും എന്റെയും മുന്നിലെ പാത്രത്തിലേക്ക് വെച്ച റൊട്ടി പൂർണമായും കരിഞ്ഞിട്ടുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അച്ഛൻ അത് ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുമെന്ന് കരുതിയെങ്കിലും അദ്ദേഹം ഒന്നും മിണ്ടാതെ അത് കഴിക്കുകയും എന്നോട് സ്കൂളിലെ വിവരങ്ങൾ തിരക്കുകയും മാത്രം ചെയ്തു. കുറച്ചു കഴിഞ്ഞു റൊട്ടി കരിഞ്ഞു പോയതിൽ അമ്മ അച്ഛനോട ക്ഷമ ചോദിക്കുന്നത് കേട്ടു ഞാൻ. അതിനെനിക്ക് കരിഞ്ഞ റൊട്ടി ഒരുപാട് ഇഷ്ടമാണല്ലോ എന്ന അച്ഛന്റെ മറുപടി ഇന്നുമെനിക്ക് മറക്കാൻ കഴിയുന്നില്ല. രാത്രി വൈകീട്ട് വല്ലാത്ത സ്നേഹത്തോടെ അച്ഛനെ ചുംബിക്കാൻ വേണ്ടി ഞാൻ അച്ഛന്റെ അടുത്ത് ചെന്നു. ശരിക്കും അച്ഛന് കരിഞ്ഞ റൊട്ടി ഇഷ്ടമായിരുന്നോയെന്നു ചോദിച്ചപ്പോൾ അച്ഛൻ പറഞ്ഞു നിന്റെ അമ്മയിന്നു പകൽ മുഴുവൻ ജോലി ചെയ്യുകയായിരുന്നു. അവൾ വളരെ ക്ഷീണിതയാണ്. ഒരു കരിഞ്ഞ റൊട്ടി ഒരാളെയും അധികം വിഷമിപ്പിക്കില്ല എന്നാൽ കടുത്ത വാക്ക് മറ്റുള്ളവരെ വിഷമിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും. ജീവിതം എന്നത് അപൂർണരായ ആളുകളും അപൂർണമായ കാര്യങ്ങളും നിറഞ്ഞതാണ്‌. ഞാനും വളരെ മികച്ചു നിൽക്കുന്നവനൊ എല്ലാ കാര്യങ്ങളും അറിയുന്നവനുമോ അല്ല. വാർഷികങ്ങളും ജന്മ ദിനങ്ങളും മറന്നു പോവുന്നു. ഇത്രയും കാലത്തെ ജീവിതത്തിൽ നിന്നും ഞാൻ പഠിച്ചത് എല്ലാവരെയും അവരുടെ കുറ്റങ്ങൾ അറിഞ്ഞു തന്നെ ഉൾകൊള്ളാനും ബന്ധങ്ങൾ ആഘോഷിക്കാനുമാണ്. നിന്നെ പരിഗണി ക്കുന്നവരോട് നന്നായി മാത്രം പെരുമാറുക. പ്രിയപ്പെട്ടവരോട് എന്നും ദയാലുവായിരിക്കുക.. !!

In the past month, I could attend/participate/organize three programs. I would like to share with you those moments.

FLAIR Induction Training

New Initiatives in Higher Education, Directorate of Collegiate Education, Government of Kerala conducted a two day FLAIR (Fostering Linkages in Academic Innovation and Research) Induction Traning Programme Phase II from 15.07.2015 to 16.07.2015 held at the Centre for Water Education, Vellayambalam, Thiruvananthapuram. Talk on “Quality in Higher Education” Dr.K.P.Jaikiran followed by Prof. Cyriac Mathews Talk was quite informative and useful in teaching improvements. Due to lack of time, programme arranged by ICT Academy was not impressive but some lines of discussion were quite applicable in teaching/learning improvements. My colleague from Department of Biochemistry, Dr P G Biju shared his ideas of how to be student centric in teaching learning process. It was a refreshing moment for all of us to rejoin in Phase II program and I take this opportunity to thank Dr. Jaikriran for providing such a platform.

Invited Talk on “Non Linear Dynamics: Introduction”

On July 9^th 2015, I delivered an invited talk on “Non Linear Dynamics” at D B College, Thalayolaparambu. Talk as delivered for the Two day National Seminar on “ Recent Trends and Applications in Non Linear Dynamics”. It was indeed a pleasure talking to them and to see their overwhelming response towards nonlinear physics. I thank the organizers and Dr. Biju sir for inviting me to deliver the talk on this subject which is actually a new field for me. Attaching some photos of the same...

Invited Talk on 30.07.2015 by Dr. V C Kuriakose, Professor, Department of Physics, Cochin University of Science and Technology. Topic of discussion was “ Einstein and Beyond”

About Dr. V C Kuriakose

Dr. Kuriakose took M.Sc. Degree from University of Kerala in 1971 and Ph. D. from Cochin University in 1983. He was on the teaching staff of U.C.College, Alwaye during 1971-89 and joined Cochin University of Science and Technology in 1989 as Reader. He was promoted as Professor in 1998 and took the headship of the Department in June 2004. He is a Visiting Associate of IUCAA, Pune since 1996, Convener of TPSC Programme since 1997 and Coordinator of IUCAA Reference Centre since 1999. Retired from the service of the University in 2007 and now working as CSIR Emeritus Scientist. 13 students took Ph.D. under his guidance and he is guiding now 7 students.

It was a great experience for our students to interact with him and his ideas were quite unique. Let me post some of the slides he had shown to us during the lecture.
