Participated in Financial Management Training by the Government of Kerala

I am happy to share that I attended an Orientation Training Programme in Financial Management organized by the Centre for Training in Financial Management (CTFM), under the Finance Department, Government of Kerala, on May 13, 2025, at Thiruvananthapuram. As an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics and Instrumentation Engineer (i/c) at the University of Kerala, this training enhanced my understanding of government financial procedures, budgeting, and institutional resource management. It was a timely and insightful experience that supports my administrative responsibilities and reflects the state’s efforts toward capacity building in higher education institutions.

Promo Video Recording at Kariavattom Campus: A Glimpse Behind the Scenes

As part of an exciting initiative by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), a short 3-minute promotional video is being developed to showcase the vibrant academic and research environment of the Kariavattom Campus, University of Kerala. The video is being coordinated by Dr. Ajitha (PRO) and Dr. Viji, who are leading the effort with great energy and vision.

I am happy to share that I had the opportunity to be a part of this recording process. It was a wonderful experience to contribute to highlighting the spirit of our campus—a place where academic pursuit, innovation, and inclusive learning converge.

Here are a few candid glimpses from the recording session.

Along with this, I’m also sharing the brochures for two key academic programs:

  • Postgraduate Program in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology

  • Four-Year Undergraduate Program – Physics Major

I encourage you to share these brochures with students, parents, and educators who may benefit from them. Let us extend a warm invitation to potential learners to join our academic community at the University of Kerala, Kariavattom.

Let learning begin where the mind is without fear—and the head is held high.

Rethinking What We Study: A Conversation with Prof. Meena T. Pillai

I recently had a meaningful conversation with Prof. Meena T. Pillai, Senior Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Arts at the Institute of English, University of Kerala.

She spoke about something very important—what it really means to study a discipline. A discipline is not just a subject, but a way of thinking and understanding the world. In today’s time, when we often speak of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary learning, we must also ask: Do we truly understand what we are studying, and how it shapes the way we think?

This conversation was just a small part of a powerful talk she delivered at the Centre for Latin American Studies, Kariavattom Campus.

Quoting Rabindranath Tagore, she captured the essence of her message:

"Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high...
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way..."

Let us make our classrooms places where thought flows freely, where curiosity is alive, and where knowing the “other” remains central to learning.
